Mary, see my post for frustrated census seekers. I checked and the 1871 Durham census does not seem to be available on CD yet. So unless someone is willing to access the library fiche for you you might have to wait a while :-/

I also need a Durham 1871 lookup but have had no joy so far so I am going to order the census to loan from LDS. It will take some time to get to my local FHC but would be willing to do some lookups. I will post when the census arrives. I understand that it is not indexed so please provide as much info as you can. Karen

I still need a 1861 census lookup. I'm seeking John Thompson, wife Isabella and child Isabel b 1861. They were almost certainly living in Middleton in Teesdale. Not sure where they were in 1871 either Middleton or Darlington. George

AHHHHHHHHHHH Have just had a phone call from the LDS local office to say that the 1871 Durham census is split into districts. There is a seperate film for each district so you can't look at the whole of Durham. The area I have now had confirmed ordered is Auckland St Helens. It will take about 2 weeks to arrive. I am happy to do lookups for that area if anyone is interested. The films can be ordered from your local FHS and cost £2.70 which you pay up front and you can view them for about 4 weeks before they are returned but if it is Durham you are after you must be specific as to what area you need. I am sorry to all those people who wanted look ups outside of St Helens Karen
