Does anyone live either in or near to this village? I am desperate for info on its early residents as all the Threshers seem to come from there. Thanx

Sorry, I don't live there, but my dau in law & grandchildren do. I know that the famous cricketer W.G.Grace came from there. Will ask if she has any local history on the place.

Thank you. I do intend to visit but am waiting on a certificate to make sure I have the right place first. I would be most grateful if you coudl ask your daughter if there is grave yard in the village or if not then where would locals be buried? Thank you again.

There is a bit of info on Genuki. Type Genuki Shenley into your search engine. Richard Chippenham

I have searched just about every Shenley site, but no confirmation of a graveyard. Unfortunately HALLS was not able to give me the info either, I have even tried the chat site for Shenley, but no-one goes on it? Anyway I continue on my quest...... Thank you.

Donna, I did a search on Google and found 2 churches. The old church was called St Botolph's and is now a private residence. There is a graveyard though. There is also a Methodist Church. This might be useful: http://www.hertsfhs.org.uk/hfphs37.html Crista

my dau in law was unable to shed any light on the surname Thresher, but she did say there was another Shenley In Bucks

Thank you all, I know it's definately the Herts one. Any chance your daughter in law might know about the church that was turned into a residence as mentioned? Sometimes they remove the burial site and relocate them? Unfortunately I cant get up there to visit myself for a few weeks. Thanx

Valerie Just looking back at some old messages and wondered if you would mind asking your daughter in law if she has heard of Leggets Farm, Shenley. Turns out one of my relatives lived there (probably in the first half of the 1900's) Thanks Jeanette
