Could someone please look at the 1861, 1871 and 1891 census for Gloucestershire for me, possibly Flaxley. Hannah and William Dyer, both born in Wiltshire, moved to Gloucestershire, some of their many children, Emily, Sarah A, Frederick. I found the census on 1891 (during my free trial period), but could not read it because it appeared black. Would be grateful for address too please. Supposed to be travelling to Cinderford library on Friday to do this myself, but illness now prevents me from doing this. Thanks a lot, M.

Michelle: The 1861 and 1871 censuses for Glos. are in a poor state and have no index. (Gloucester Library). Unless someone has a CD you will need a lot of patience. The 1851 census is available (unindexed) on www.rootsweb.com/~cotswold/eastdean51.txt. Would this be of any help to you? Also GRO at Gloucester has 1851 indexed which helps. Other areas of Glos. can be accessed by substituting westdean51.txt etc. at the end of the website address.

Hi Dorothy, I don't think Hannah and William went to Gloucester until after 1851, their first daughter Emily was born in Wiltshire. Thanks for your info though. M.

Hi Rosemary, That's fine, don't worry. It's very good of you to look. Hopefully if I can't get to Cinderford this week, perhaps I can go there in a few weeks. There's lots more searching to keep me busy. M

If you join the gloucestershire Family History Society. They will look things up for you at a very reasonable cost. They have just looked up two census for me and sent me copies of the findings for just eight pounds. Tricia

Hi Dorothy, Where abouts do I look for the census on Rootsweb? I've had a look and I'm either very unlucky or I'm looking in the wrong place as I cannot find anything whatsover on the names I'm putting in. Laurie
