Don't worry too much about the age, I've got a relative who aged only 13 years between the 1881 & 1901 Census! Was your G Grandma a parent or child in 1881? Assuming she was a child, you could try finding when she married and order the marriage certificate. This will give you her age and also her father's name and hopefully help you confirm the Census entry.

if you look on the latterday saints website,where u can look at the 1881 census details,when you type in the womans details, if they find matches they list them and when u click on a name it brings up a page with more details on, on the right hand side of the screen near the top it says view household, or something similar ,click on it and it will give you details of whoever lived with her at the time.Maybe this will help you to locate and identify her , if youknow her parents or siblings names

Linda Three years is very close, generally you will be happy to get within 5 years. I suggest trying to trace her in the 1891 and 1901 census to see if you can get a family link to someone you know. Gary

I have found the most likely census entry on the 1881 census for my Great grandmother but I am not sure if it is her, I have spoken to my father who says the geography is good but the age 3 years out what do I do now to try and make a positive identification
