Two illegitimate children in 1891!

Thanks Anna, I found a Frederick Brown on the FreeBMD for 1883 but not for Brentwood area. The other years are still very incomplete yet. Will try 1837 online.

Thanks for that John, but I'm thinking since she was still with the same man, she may have wanted his name recorded, hoping he would eventually marry her. Perhaps someone could have a look for me anyway for their place of birth, as I presume she would have gone away for the birth.

Hiya Kathy According to the census page,they were both born in Brentwood,I saved the census page for the Browns from your last question :-)

Kathleen. If you manage to obtain a birth certificate you will probably find that the father's name is not recorded. They generally were not for illegitimate children at these times. John

My grandmother, Ellen Brown, age 25 in 1891 born Barnston, Essex had two children who were not my grandfathers. They were Alfred Brown, 6 in 1891 and Frederick Brown, 8 in 1891. Living in Brentwood, Essex. Could someone please tell me where these two boys were born, as I would like to apply for their birth certificates to find their father, who I believe was a soldier who deserted them. Thanks, Kathy
