Member Since: July 2003 Posts: 5 Send Message	My g grandfather John Littlefield died of 'the black death' in the Gold or Ivory Coast areas of Africa this would have been roughly in 1919 when he was working in a mine/for a mining company over there. Any ideas where I may be able to get information on his death, dates etc. Any ideas where I could start looking for this information would be brilliant. Dawn

Member Since: June 2003 Posts: 1,421 Send Message	Don't really know much about it - but, where did you get the information regarding the cause of death? is it family legend, or some concrete proof - like a certificate. If certificate then someone must have certified and registered - you could try the Foreign Office to see if they keep records of british nationals dying abroad. Sorry haven't any more info for you. Member Since: April 2003 Posts: 0 Send Message	Dawn, If your great grandfather's death was registered with a British Consul, that information should have been passed to the General Register Office. It may be worth giving Southport a call to see if they can help. David
