Charles Dickens had seven sons, most of these can be eliminated: Charles (1837 - 1896) married Bessie Evans. Francis (1844 - 1886) although briefly in India spent the rest of his life in the Mounties in Canada - he did not marry. Alfred (1845 - 1912) went to Australia and married Jessie Devlin. Sidney (1847 - 1871) was in the navy and did not marry. Henry (1949 - 1933) married Marie Therese Roche. Edward (1852 - 1902) went to Australia and I do not think he married. This leaves Walter (1841 - 1863) who did go to India, but I do not believe married and died young. Hope this helps. Gary

Hi Colin I found the following website http://www.dickensfoundation.org/ If you have a look on there there is a family tree for Dickens, however it doesn't state who his children married, other than one, so perhaps if you go onto the site and email someone on there they will proabably be able to verify your story for you. Hi Colin I am no expert on Charles Dickens, - but I know a man that is! The person is a work colleague and a Dickens freak, I will ask her wj=hen I get back to work on 1st if she can shine any light on it. Meanwhile, I'll have a quick look around the internet and see what I can find. Regards MAxine

My cousin Myrtle King ( now deceased ) believed that her aunt Edith Vernon married one of his sons and that they both went to live in India. He always wore a signet ring given to him by Lord Tennyson.Has anybody out there any views on this.I have an entry from the 1881 Census of Solihull, Birmingham when I located her at Blenheim House, Warwick Road, Birmingham, she was then 10 years old.
