Hi Margaret Re 1861 Census - If you find from the telephone directory your local Latter Day Saints Family History Centre - phone them and find which days they are open - you can then go along and as long as you know the area where Henry Dipple lived in 1861 you can then order a film (it will take a few weeks to come and cost about £2.70) and it will be available for you to look at for about 4 weeks, before it has to go back to Salt Lake City. Hope this helps. Sarah

Thanks Sarah, I was just looking at the latter day saints and wondering about the films they have on their site. What sort of films are they videos? Maggie

Hi Margaret The films I order and look at are the old type of film on reels. You have to view them at the LDS Family History Centre on one of their film readers. Our Family History centre has quite a few readers, but the 1861 films are usually on a type of film which needs a certain reader, so when I order any 1861 films they always make sure I book the correct reader. All the staff at our Centre are really really helpful. The Centres are listed in the ordinary telephone directory - in the front business bit - under "Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints". Hopefully you will find that there is one near to you. However, as I said before, I would give them a ring first as usually they are only open a few days a week. Best of luck. Sarah.
