researching Barhams from Maidstone sort of area. I can find references in the 1901 census to my Great Grandfather and his father. They are Thomas Allender Barham and Hannai Barham. Thomas born 1886 and Hannai born 1856, though no reference of him the the 1881 census. Both were born in Maidstone. As Hannai is an unusual name, I didnt think it would be that difficult to trace....how wrong!! Is any one willing to look up 1891 census for me??? I believe Hannai was married to Rose cheers Sam

I don't know about the name, but I live quite near Maidstone and know the Street where they lived well, they are mostly terraced houses. Lynda

I just received my Grand fathers birth certificate, he was born at 166 Union street. Thomas obviously lived close to his parents, as I understand happened a lot in those days.

In this case, I searched on Rosannas in Maidstone born around the years she was. Crista

thats obviously where my Great Grandfather got his middle name from....the Barhams are proving to be quite interesting arent they

Sam

Sam Report 26 Aug 2003 23:48

I just realised that apart from my GGrandfathers middle name (Allender) all of the neighbours are included in the names of Hosannahs children

Can't figure out how the Allenders and the Pearces are related. It says Edward is unmarried. How can that be if he's the son in law? Crista

Sam Report 26 Aug 2003 23:59

that ones a puzzle, but its still answered a lot of questions here.... I would presume that Edward Pearce is Rosannes relative also???

Samantha, The only bizarre situation I can think of is that Rosanna was originally Rosanna Allender, married Edward, divorced him and then married Hosannah. Very unlikely! Crista
