Yvette, Oops, have just double checked and Thomas isn't actually a Thomas but is actually William R Elliffe. Maybe it's my bedtime now, lol! He's married as well if thats of any use and is age 40. Sorry! Rachel |

Rachel Hello, thanks for your help, a Thomas Elliff in Croydon General is new to me, however i am amazed at just how many Elliff(e)'s i am finding at the moment after years of thinking we were unique, lol. I will add him to my notes as he may well be important at some time. I am aware that the William i am searching for may have had a brother John that i have been able to find on the 1891 and 1901 census, but it may just prove to be wishful thinking as i can trace Johns parents back quite a bit. Rosemary That definitley looks like the family i am looking for however i am a bit confused now as when you looked up Samuel Sayer (Kate Whites father) for me in an early query it listed him in 1891 as having his daughter Kate aged 23 living with him, but as she married Thomas White and her middle initial was R and their first daughter was Kate also it must be them although the age is 2 years out, why would she be listed twice? And to think i thought my Elliff family were being awkward lol! it does seem odd though that they can be found in the 1881 and 1901 but nowhere in between, guess it proves the awkward gene in our family is hereditry! lol! Yvette I couldnt find William but I did find Thomas Elliffe who was born in Croydon, Surrey and was 40 in 1891 and a patient at Croydon General Hospital. It says he is an employer but I can't make out his proffession. Could it be Marine Stone Dealer Shop? My eyesight is appaling at times! Will keep looking for William. |

Hi Rosemary Thanks for your hunt for my Elliffs they are proving somewhat difficult to find just now... As for Thomas White i believe he was born in Helston, Cornwall in 1866, and moved to Croydon to work in a Fruiters. Does that help? Yvette |

Can anyone help me with either of these please. Thomas John White,living in the Croydon area, and William and Alice Elliff, they are not showing up in the area i expected so not sure where they might have been, however they would have been about 38 and 36 years old and had children Annie aged 12/13, Alfred 9, Frederick 5, Arthur 3and Frank 1.
