Elizabeth, If you look on IGI on the familysearch site, and do a search with Hocking as the surname, Elizabeth as the mother's name for Devon you get the following results for Lifton. 1. Mary A Hocking - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Birth: 1850 Lifton, Devon, England 2. HENRY HOCKING - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Birth: 1854 Lifton, Devon, England 3. JOHN HOCKING - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Birth: 1848 Lifton, Devon, England 4. Mary Hocking - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Birth: 1850 Lifton, Devon, England The listing for John matches the 1881 census. You could conclude from this that Henry might also their son and Betsey's name was originally Elizabeth Ann Bartlett. Crista

I'm confused, in 1881 Betsy Pellow or on the 1881 site Pellon lived with: Jonathan Pellon should be pellow aged 50 Head John Hocking Stepson 33 Thomas Hocking " 24 George """"" " 20 Joseph """""""18 Rebecca """"16 William"""""13 Susan""""""7 Bessy Pellow 12 daur George Pellow 10 son lived at 18 Princess Street I presume at this stage Betty Ann had previously been married to a Hocking but who i dont know! Does anyone know how to find out where she was before 1881? did she also have a son called Henry Hocking who in 1881 had his own family, again how do i find this out. Anyones else will be greatly appreciated as i am now really struggling. If Betsy is Henrys mother this is great as i can get further back on this line which is important for me. Thanks Liz
