Hi I am trying to find my gt grandad's gave in Rotherham. I was given phone number of crematorum from Rotherham B C as they hold all records of buriels etc. Unfortunately I have to go and search myself in Rotherham for the record. I live in Surrey so its a long way to go in case I dont find it!Does anyone know of a service on line or other that I could pay to do the search in Rotherham for me? Much appreciated Bridgette

Bridgette, Try www(.)findagrave(.)com might be of some use. Nicki

I looked at this site, but it only seemed to cover the USA. Jan

That's a huge problem I find. Of three cemetary links I received recently, all are predominantly US-biased. If you ever use the surname message boards at Ancestry. co. uk, it seems at least three quarters of a page will be filled with people from Michigan.

I recently wanted to find the graves of several of my relatives in Darlington. I first phoned the local counsil and asked for the phone number for their Cemeteries dept.I gave them the names and approximate dates of death of the relatives i wanted to find ,and they phoned me back telling me the plot numbers of the graves, which cemetery each was buried in, and dates of burial. They also arranged an appointment for me to be shown each of the graves by a worker at each cemetery, they were very helpful and found every one i was looking for. Perhaps if you could contact the appropriate cemeteries dept they may prove equally helpful. Good luck.

Hi Bridgette, If you ask for the cemetries department at the appropriate council office they should be able to help you. If they are like ours they are only open to midday. Laurie

Bridgette, It may be worth you putting a message out for Jessica Ansley, she has offered to do cemetery searches for the Rotherham area. All it says though is contact her through GC. Kim
