Sally I was at a french wedding about six years ago. They have a civil wedding on the Friday and then a church wedding on the Saturday. So it could be in two places although you don't know where. Went onto google and typed in search 'French weddings 1860 only' This came up with a few web sites that you can search for yourself.I checked out two for you.Charlotte's web genealogical dictionary, which gives french meanings you will need to translate. The other explains about weddings at that time and where the records are stored.I hope this helps. Don't know what NBS stands for Mary

Thank You Gen! I am off to try it now! Regards Sally, Coventry UPDATE: Great site but too early for what I am looking for. I think the marriage took place around 1860, but I have no idea whereabouts in France to look. Any more ideas anyone?

Hi All! I wonder if anyone out there had delved into French records before? One of my rellys shows on the 1891 census birthplace as (NBS)France. I presume this means Non British Subject? As this is a lady, I will need to find her maiden name to look for her birth. However I have searched 1837online in vain for her marriage, and am now thinking that maybe she married in France and then moved to England? Where would I begin? Any suggestions welcome!
