Sian Report 8 Sep 2003 18:29

I subscribed and paid my £6 but on the first few days of looking, I found nothing... then the week was up. I then found out a new surname to research but of course my credit had expired. I wouldn't subscribe again as the coverage is limited and the time limit is ridiculous. Keep your money for someting else. Sian

Hi Rachel, I have sent you an email, asking if you could do a look up for me on english origins, but just in case you don't get it, could you possibly look for the following for me? I am looking for the marriage of Thomas Tong/Tonge/Tongue to Christiana ????, possibly in the Manchester area and possibly around about 1830 or just before. Thanks and best wishes. Carol.

Rachel Report 8 Sep 2003 18:03

I joined the site earlier today, but when I did a more in depth search (which I dont think I could do before I paid my money) no matches came up. It turns out my area is over 22% covered! Oh well, I s'pose it was only £6 at the end of the day. I'll maybe go back at a later point in time when I'm futher back than the early 1800s. Also, I still have my 300 credits which I'm happy to use for other people if they need it. If you do want a lookup please give me all the details you have as you get charged for a lookup for every name that appears on a page, ie if there are 100 names in the marriage index that match your criteria and you want to look at them for your particular one you get charged 100 credits! Time limits always put me off, they make me nervous. I always find out something new that I never quite get time to investigate fully.

This site looks excellent - It's Soc. of Genealogists - but the 300 credits for £6 have to be used within 7 days. I'll sign up when I'm having a week off! Janet

Can anyone tell me if this is a good site to go on. It seems very cheap, 300 credits for £6. Thought I might try it but didn't want to waste my money as am on pension. May
