Ashton-in-Makerfild comes under Ince registration district not Wigan, have you tried that. freda

Are you certain they married? We thought we were certain my grandparents married and I went on an endless search only to find they hadn't as he was already married! Fortunately a letter to a distant relative gave me the truth and led us to discover my mums half sister. Have you tried freebdm or the 1837 site? The GRO will do a search for you though it costs extra and you have to specify a three year period to check. When I was searching I even wrote to Gretna Green!! Good luck!

I need help in obtaining details of marriage of John Shaw and Dorothy Orrell. First child Gordon was born 19302nd child Eric 1935. I have tried Registers Office Wigan no luck. I am presuming marriage just before first child born.I need to find out parents of John and Dorothy to move on with my research.Address when Eric born was 381 Old Road Ashton in Makerfield
