Look ups-Opinions Please!

Does anyone think it's a good idea, that if anyone posts a look up, esp on a chargable census, that the first person who sees the message, tells everyone wether they are going to do the look up or not, that way you don't have a situation whereby different people are all kindly looking for the same thing. You could have used the money on another lookup, had you known. Make sense? I don't mind if I have credit left on doing lookups, but it's so frustrating when you go back to let the person know, to find out 3 other people have looked and typed a reply quicker than you. Definately a good idea....everyones so helpful that you get bombarded..in a good way of course!!! Itll save alot of time and money.

Hi Catherine. I,ve been looking at the subject of look-ups as well. Seems to me that there is some confusion between Tips Board and Guest Book. Maybe do away with Guest Book and have a Look-ups Board instead

I also totally agree. People have been so kind to me, that on quite a few occasions I have tried to return the favours, have done the look up only to find either my brain doesn't work as quick as others or my typing is extremly slow. One day I will get in first! Kim

If someone asks for a lookup and you are willing to do it, then post a message to that effect BEFORE you do the lookup. That way, others will see that someone has already offered. Makes sense to me (but I have had a few white wines!!) Lynne

I think it would be a good idea to merge the Tips Board and Guest Book. I've never been sure of the difference and people on the guest book seem to be full members not guests anyway. We could have a Tips Board, a Look-ups Board and a Chat Board. Then people should know where to post messages.

Well Lynne; It makes sense to me and I've had a few reds so I reckon that red or white has nought to do with anything making sense! It would be great to have a look-up board then those that wish to look up for others can access it at their leisure and those who don't wish to know about that don't have to look! Those who want look ups can place a post and all willbe right in the world of GC!! JMHO Sonja

I've now emailed GC with my suggestions for changes to the boards. Perhaps if a few more of you could too, we might get something done. The administrators do take a while to realise what we want but I'm sure if we hassle them enough they will make it a priority (just to shut us up!)
