I am looking for a family from Warwickshire - Coventry. The name is Kench the father is William and the mother is Maria. I could guess tht william was born in 1806 and Maria around the same. If any one could look on the 1851 & 1861 census for me i would be really grateful as it would help me find a family wedding. thanx alison

Hi, Here they are in Craven St, Coventry in 1851 (LDS discs): Maria KENCH Head W 41 F Provision Dealer Coventry-War Ann KENCH Daur U 17 F Silk Weaver Coventry-War Joseph KENCH Son U 16 M Watch Maker Coventry-War William KENCH Son U 12 M --- Coventry-War Maria KENCH Daur U 8 F --- Coventry-War Fanny KENCH Daur - 4 F --- Coventry-War Alfred KENCH Son - 1 M --- Coventry-War There is no 1861 index but you can order a film of the census at any LDS centre and search it there. It could take quite a while to work through, however. Hope this helps, Gwynne

Thanx gwyneth. Was trying to locate the marriage of maria. Don't know if she was married in coventry or in lancashrie (colne) as this is where her hubby came from and i can't find a registration for them. All i know is their first child was born in 1864. alison

Have you tried looking for the birth of the eldest child? If it was shortly after the wedding it would give you a good guess as to where the wedding was. Mel

Hi Mel, tried that one - first childborn in 1864 in Colne. Still no record of a marriage. Funny though the last child William Edward Dugdale also born in colne 1874 was married at some point between 1891 and 1900 (first child born in liverpool 1901 - jan) but can't find a marriage record for him either. I don't know if there was some sort of religious thing going on (William edward's wife was a catholic) or not but it's got me stumped! alison
