I found four Thomas Holmes born Wiltshire, but none the right age. Thomas H, age 26, Son, born and living in Froxfield Thomas, age 23, Head, born Woodton Rivers, living Christchurch, London Thomas, age 27, Boarder, born Pewsey, living Gillingham, Kent Thomas, age 46, Lodger, born Netheravon, living Edington, Wilts. If any of the above is of interest I'll go back and look in more detail. The above is just from the index. Jan.

Hi Shirley; I trawled through the soundex again and came up with 1500 odd entries! The Thomas I thought was closest wasn't! I had misread the place of birth as the child directly above him. Sorry! My viewer doesn't show the entire page, you have to scroll across and hope you stay on the right line. I know I should have triple checked! Once again, my apologies. Sonja

Hi Heather Many thanks for your prompt reply, would it be possible to let me have the details of the 9 Thomas Holmes you have located, just maybe one of them might be the ONE. I do know eventually the whole family moved to Canada but do not know the dates Regards Shirley

Shirley; The only Thomas that I could find that fits the bilkl wos well and truly cuddled up with a lady called Eliza and a tribe of children, the eldest being 11. This would mean he would have had to leave Mary Elizabeth prior the 1881. Well.......... maybe not... ;) LMK if you would like this info. Sonja

I am trying to trace the whereabouts of THOMAS HOLMES born 1855 in Wiltshire, I can find him on the 1881 and 1901 census records, but not the 1891, although I can find his wife MARY ELIZABETH HOLMES and her daughter living in Bolton le Sands, with relatives. According to records I have Thomas Holmes left his wife and daughter in 1882 in Wandsworth, returning about 1893 to Wandsworth where they had another child. Any help would be appreciated.
