The IGI is by no means complete, I am currently looking at the parish registers for Shifnal, and some names are on the IGI and others are not. Most films can be hired from the LDS at one of their FHS, addresses on familysearch. Ros

Rosemary Thanks. The 1775 Warwick one would be perfect, and there was a brother Joseph...but they are recorded as dying young. The 1762 one is possible but I thought it unlikely. when I looked before.......Francis married in 1806. He was a batchelor and his wife Mary was then 21. Their last child was born 1825..he would have been 63. I think I might have to think again on this one. as a more serious possibility,or wonder whether the 1762 Francis is the parent of 'my' Francis. No Josephs though! Joan

Hi Brenda A ray of hope there. Thanks If you have time, could you see if there is a Joseph born about that time...a brother, I think? I must go to my local records office and look at the VRI...is that where I will find it? Best wishes for you own searching Joan

Alison Thanks for replying. I'm not certain yet where Francis came from...likely to be Birmingham or Worcester.... a lot of records to cover unless I can narrow it down! Is it your experience that there are parish records from around that time which are not on the IGI? I might start with those if there is some way of finding out. Good luck with your searching. Joan

Do you know where he was born? If so then you can go to the relevant county records offices and search through the Parish Records on Microfiche - i have spent many long hours doing just that at the Bucks offices in Aylesbury for family in WIng and Stewkley. I am lucky to only live about an hour away though so it is not too difficult. I do know of people who live miles away who take time off work and find a nice B&B near to the relevant records office and combine it with trips to churches, graveyards and villages they knw their ancestors to have lived in. Good luck in your searching Alison

My ancestor Francis Hudson's birth/baptism record (he was born before 1788) is not on the IGI. I'd be grateful for any tips on where I might search now. Thanks. Joan
