Janet, There's also a 65 year old Janet in the same house in 1901. I wonder if Joseph and Janet are the grandparents? Crista

Valerie, Do you have any ages/place of birth for her parents? You might find them if you search on first name only. With a name like Virtue it could have easily been transcribed incorrectly. Crista

My VRI CD has a Florence Elizabeth born 22/6/1875 to William James Virtue and Eliabeth Jane, Ch. 8/8/1875 St Annes Soho, also a William Joseph b 11/1/1877 ch 4/2/1877 same church, same parents. Could these be siblings of Emma? Update- no sorry, this can't be her parents, found them on 1881 and Elizabeth is only 32, too young to be Emma's mother!

Hi Valerie, See your problem. I have had a look and could find Emma birth record: - Virtue Emma Sarah, March Qtr, 1864, Bermondsey 1d pg 95 so getting her birth certificate would not be a problem (if you haven't already got it of course). Apart from that - no trace. The only Virtue's I can find on the 1881 census from Bermondsey are: - John Virtue Head 36 Bermondsey - Warehouseman Isabella Virtue Wife 30 Bermondsey Isabella Virtue Daur 12 Bermondsey John Virtue Son 10 Bermondsey Eliza Virtue Daur 7 Bermondsey William Virtue son 5 Bermondsey George Virtue son 2 Bermondsey Olive Virtue daur 6m Camberwell Annie Downs Boarder 24 Bermondsey Dwelling 19 Verney Road, Camberwell, Surrey RG11 0699 / 55 pg 34 Apart from those the only other Virtue's I can find on IGI from Bermondsey are: - Emma Virtue ch 14/06/1835 Bermondsey Elizth Virtue ch 13/01/1833 Bermondsey John Virtue ch 25/09/1836 Bermondsey Sarah Susan Virtue ch 05/01/1834 Bermondsey All the children of William Virtue and Hannah. None of the above seem to fit in with your Emma. Good Luck Janet

If you put her married name here I will look on the 1891 census for you. Lynda

Emma Sarah Virtue was born in 1864 in Bermondsey, London. Her parents were William and Eliza nee Pooley. I cant find them on 1881 census. (Emma was married in 1882). What shall i do next?
