Keely, The birth certificate of the child will give you the mother's maiden name .... you can look for it on 1837online(.)co(.)uk. And here there will a column that you look on that states the mother's maiden name. Jeni

Hi Margaret, You have helped me before finding this person! You kindly looked him up on the 1881 Scottish census! I still have the print out of names you found for me. It was about 60 in total. But now im going to buy the birth certificate of his son, so then I can get more info about him and maybe narrow him down about! It was James Scott, do you remember?!

I'm a bit stuck at where to go next. My GGgrandad was born in Scotland, and that is all I know! So, if I get the birth certificate of his son, my Ggrandad, will this give me anymore clues. But, my Ggrandad was born in England, so will it have that information? The only thing that I can think of, is when I get the birth cert of my Ggrandad it will give me his mothers maiden name, so then I can look for the marriage cert of my GGgrandads.
