Jacky, Didn't find any sites with any great detailed history of Yarrow Home but if you go to Google and type in Yarrow Home Broadstairs, there are some sites, which talk briefly about the place. Andy.

Andrew, Do you have any details of Yarrow Home as I have been looking for a convalescent home in Broadstairs that I went to as a child and there can't have been many of them! Many thanks Jacky

This confirms what any serious genealogist will tell you. No matter where you get the info always check at source. Transcribers must have been wearing magic spectacles when they extracted info from Parish Registers and Censuses Jim

I couldn't agree more. Though it is always good to keep reminding the 'experienced' one too. We all need to keep this in mind.

More of a tip for beginners this one. Spent last evening trying to find an Edgar Stoaling and a Tom Stoaling on the 1901 census, after noticing that they weren't living with their parents. After using the wildcard (*) character, I found an Edgar Stooling and a John Stooling. Both their ages seemed correct but the name John puzzled me, as I knew his first name to be Tom and his middle name to be Ebenezer. Thinking that this had be a mistake, I paid to view the image and sure enough, his name had been written as Tom - capital letter T's in those days looked like uppercase J's - so it paid to look at the census image. Found them in a place called Yarrow Home in Broadstairs, which was a convalescent home for sick children although according to a BBC webpage, it was used as a hospital for Canadian soldiers during WWI.
