Hi Maxine, thnakyou so much for your help. I will have a look at it. I have spent a small fortune and time looking on the 1901 web site. Thanks again, Jo.

Hi Jo If you do a google search on "1901 census decoder" you will get their web site. You can download the decoder free, and it is an excellent tool for pulling together search data from the 1901 website. For it to work you must view the 1901 census through their browser, not direct through the 1901 website if that makes sense. The decoder assigns page and person IDs to each person in the search, so for eg if you search on Worthington in Staff*, you can then sort by person and page IDs to get household members grouped together. If you get gaps in the person ID ranges, it will indicate that someone of a different surname was also living there, and you would need to pay and view the record to find out who, plus you won't get the address without paying either. It can save you a lot of time and cash, in sorting the wheat from the chaff, so to speak! I personnally find it invaluable. Have a go at it, if you get stuck, please feel free to email me and I'll help if I can. Regards Maxine

Sorry to be rude and butting into a question but could you tell me what a 1901 decoder is and where you can get it? Thanks Jo.

If anyone has time could you possibly look up the following person to see who they're living with: Fredk Fenton 37 B: London Islington Commercial Clerk I'm hoping that he has a daughter called Olive with him. many thanks Zoe (and her decoder unfriendly Mac)
