Hi, May I'm glad you've made some progress. I've been trying to think of any other means of tracing the deceased father, William Noble Nesbitt, but without success so far in the records I've looked at. You really need the birth record of James, which should be 1847 or 1948 if the census age is right. The problem is that there are so few of them, and they are in north Northumberland. I think the age could be wrong. You may need to see a copy of the 1881 census record rather than the transcript to check whether it was transcribed correctly. I am wondering more and more whether the IGI references to Seghill for William's marriage in 1846 and his birth in 1821 are pure guesses, based on no research whatsoever. Good luck anyway. Hello Stan, Just thought you might like to know that I received the marriage certificate of James Noble Nesbitt and Elizabeth Russell . 21 dec 1871 It states that his father William Noble Nesbitt, a bootmaker, was deceased. You very kindly helped me with this so thought you might like to know about the certificate. It still doesn't seem to get me any nearer to William but it's a little further. Have looked for William who married Barbara but no luck. Thank you once again for your help. May
