Andrew of Yorkshire has posted a notice about some crazy govt proposals to limit our access to data which is less than 100 years old. We have to make written objections by 23rd October. Check out the Society of Genealogist's website for full details and lets's keep this topic at the top of our Message Board! Well done Andrew for issuing the wake up call!

The actual white paper is on line if you dont mind trawling through all the blather, duplication, deviation and gobbledegook. They want to withhold, addresses, occupations and cause of death, but there are anomolies. One item mentioned, is the case of a woman subject to domestic violence may be subject to danger if her address was notified. In the next item on persons entitled to unrestricted certificates, it includes family members, which would include the woman`s husband. Duh
