Judith Sorry if this upsets your ideas but found this family on 1901 using decoder William Moss 41 born Haughley Emily 40 born Elmswell William 16 Wetherden James 14 Wetherden John 12 Wetherden Robert 10 Wetherden Ethel 2 Westhorpe The family are living at Westhorpe in Suffolk and I think this is the family previously shown in 1891 Census. Henry James is known by his middle name and I guess this is why some of the other children's names seem to have changed. You say your Henry James Moss was married by 1901 so I would think he must have been born before 1886 as it is very unlikely he married at 14. Do you know the name of the lady he married and perhaps I can find them on 1901.

Found them on 1891 census at 60 Netherden Suffolk. John Moss Age 31 Agricultural Labourer Born Haughey Emily Moss 30 Elesmill Mary 9 Emily 7 Melanie 6 Henry 4 Thomas 2 ? Paul 3 Months All the children are recorded as born in Netherden or whatever the village is called. I am afraid I have had trouble working out the writing. His name is Henry James Moss born 1886 in suffolk. Father is william john moss and mother is emily moss nee baker. Have tried 1891 on ancestry with no luck. He was married and living in doncaster by the time the 1901 was taken.

Post his name and year and place of birth and I'm sure someone will manage to come up with some census details for you.

he seems to have moved to doncaster from suffolk. Was a farm worker so quite possibly moved for work. Have had trouble locating him on censuses so far but am working on it. Isn't it a good feeling when somebody you have been searching for turns up like this.

Have you found him on any census, which give his place of birth. Just a thought.

Sounds good to me. Just wonder why he went that way? If he had gone to Yorks. for the coal then ok. What did he do for a living? Would that give him a reason? Just trying to help as you have had no response and keep it to the top. John

I had trouble finding my g grandfathers birth. I was expecing him to be born in yorkshire but I ordered a certificate of a birth in suffolk. It is the right year, the right fathers name and sons name (even their middle names are the same). Is this likely to be the right? It seems too much like a coincidence not to be. If this is the right one then I have demolished another brickwall.
