Diane I have looked in Bishop Aucland for Susan and Peter but I'm affraid I couldn't find them.I promise you I will look again (when I haven't got my son behind me playing with his lego) just in case I have missed them and I will be in touch if I find them. Chris

Hi,Chris, I know it's terribly cheeky but I don't suppose you could look up a Susan Murray age 17[ish] born in Ireland, should be in the Auckland area, and her brother Peter, age 14. Much appreciated if you could.

Hi all, Thomas, thanks, I'll have another look. Did check their web, must have missed it! Chris, thanks for your kind offer, but I have the 1861 myself, it's HUGE isn't? Hence the request for an index! Debbie

the only partial index for 1861 that I know of is at Durham record office. It's very sparse compared to 1851 but you may be lucky! Check on their website, click on information leaflets text only, and you'll get a list of whats avaliable.Good luck,Tony.

Does anyone know if there is a surname index available to buy for the 1861 census for county Durham. Have tried a few of the obvious sites, but no luck so far. Pref CD or booklet Debbie
