Is there an 1891 correction list? That's where I'm having most problem finding people. My Gobels were Gabel, and some of my Forsters were Foreter. Other Forsters have disappeared completely, though I've tried all sorts of wild cards for them. Jan.

How about these:- Prayseed Reen (Professed Nun) and Pulverbach (Cumberland). Just two of the 'pearlers' to be found on the 1901 Census Data Amendment site. You might find someone you're looking for. There are quite a few to say the least!! Yvonne

Bit like trying to solve a cryptic crossword really, isn't it? My Penstons were Censtaks, one of my relatives has the occupation of "ethmeter for remarks" (absolutely cannot work this one out!) and, more prosaicly, Essex has become Sussex.

I had one a while back a bit like that. I was looking for a spouse born in Long Sutton, Lincolnshire but couldn't find them. After changing my search criteria, I found the person but the county of birth was Lancashire! When I looked at the source, it was clearly Lincolnshire so why on earth they thought Lancashire, I've no idea.

Just found a beauty - someone registered in the 1891 as being born in Cambridgeshire, whereas when you look at the sheet its quite clearly Carmathanshire - the town being Llanbordy. No wonder we can't find people when we have all the information. Jan
