I have found my gggrandfather on the 1881 census for Leeds, but he was already a widower. I really need a census where his wife was alive. Patrick Boland born c1925 in Ireland, wife Phoebe, age unkown as yet. They married in 1847 so 1851 or 1861, even 1871 please would help me in the next step. Any siblings would be very much appreciated too. Thanks Penny

Hi if you look on yorkshire bmd, I can see a marriage of Patrick Boland in Leeds to a Phoebe Donker reference RB/8/58. I hope this is of some help. This site for relatives from Leeds has been really helpful to me. Liz

Hi Elizabeth Yes I've been in the site and am waiting for that marriage certificate to arrive - always seems such a long time coming! I would like to know where Phoebe was born and to confirm if Patrick came from Sligo or some other part of Ireland. So hopefully I might find out soon! I am so grateful to all those who help in the searching Penny

George you are a star!! Thank you so much. I didn't know that both were born in Ireland. John is my direct ancestor. I shall try to get a copy ASAP. BTW I received their marriage certificate today and now I have the fathers' names I might be able to take a step further. Thanks again! Penny
