Hi Susan, I have always found that County Record Offices are very helpful. If you write to them enclosing a stamped and addressed envelope they will usually do some research for you for free. They have most of the documents such as BMD, census returns, IGI, Wills, in fact they will send you details of what they hold. You can find a list of these offices on http://freepages(.)genealogy(.)rootsweb(.)com/~familysearch/page9(.)html Manchester is a very good Record Office, they are very helpful, so if you are doing a lot of research in this area, I should find out what they hold. Hi there Susan, The only way to find the birth is to search the gro. There must be somewhere near you where you can look at the index. Are you not near a County Records office or an LDS centre. If this is out of the question then email me the details and I will try and have a look for you later this week or early next week. You will find your nearest LDS centre on Family Search web site. Susan, FreeBMD is almost complete for 1899. If you can't find her there might be a spelling error. How about this: Births Dec 1899 Jeffray Doris Chorlton 8c 869 Crista

Yes it is - I think it starts at £5.00 but you can see a fair few records for that. It's worth looking out on here though as sometimes people have the last few of their credits spare and are willing to look up for other people. Emma.
