I found some of my living relations in the USA by posting on ancestry(.)com message board. Maybe I was luck but it could be worth a try. Michelle

Hey what an amazing mesage board! Thanks to all for advice. I did write to the Chicago Tribune but never had any response. will try the web sites suggested, thanks. Problem is that I don't know the childrens names. Irene was whom my mum wrote to and her dad Charles' Obit in the newspaper says Irene Lambert, that was 1949 and mum remembers her marrying in WW2 Her brother was Robert C Castle born 1921 at 547 W 61st Chicago (father owned the property) there is a Robert C in SS deaths 1972, don't know what that would tell me? John Castle had a girl called Marjorie probably a bit older than her cousins and another child but not been able to find them on 1930 census John is reputedly supposed to have died (suicide?) when a train hit him pre WW2 (SS deaths 1923?)his wife was Annie E ? Again grateful for any help!!! THANKS

Sheila, If you know names you can use www. intelius(.)com, www.people-data(.)com, www.ussearch(.)com to try and narrow down areas. Then use www.anywho(.)com to find the phone number and address for free. Crista

Hi Sheila. I live in the U.S., but we are not American, so I have never researched "here" (so can't give you any helpful websites). You may not have heard back, as neighbourhoods change, and houses are sometimes torn down to make way for larger buildings. The "Salvation Army" used to search for relatives, for a fee, but don't know if they still do that. I found a distant cousin in Sussex by writing to my ancestors' church and asking about parishioners (was given info from telephone directories). Perhaps you might try investigating local churches; or I could try to find something for you tomorrow, given more information. Please contact me, if I can help. Good luck! Lisa.

How about writing to a local paper in Chicago? I'm sure you could get a name of one from the search engine. Lynda

Any hints on tracking the living in Chicago USA. My mothers uncles emigrated in 1907 & 1911 have found the wives & offspring in 1920 & 30 census, Mum used to write to a daug Irene Castle ( married a Lambert during WW2, info from Obituary) I have written to the WW2 address in Chicgao but no answer (no surprise!) also tried a few message boards. Ancestors are easier to find! Any help/hints very gratefully received especially by my 88 year old mum! reagrds Sheila
