I have been a freebmd transcriber for almost three years now and would highly recommend it. I decided to do it the first time I found my first relative on the FreeBMD site. I was so excited by my find that I figured there were lots of other people waiting for their first find too. I haven't found anyone famous myself, however a friend of mine transcribed the record for Charlie Chaplin. It can get depressing when you spend days transcribing pages of deaths though, all those young babies .

Hi Viv I've just started transcribing on freeBMD. I have joined Brians Scan Syndicate. As far as I know, they are still looking for more transcribers. Terry on the Rock

:-( I have offered and left my emil address three times now. I have so much spare time on my hands - but no one has contacted me at all. I do however, transcribe for One Great Family, and would love to do more!!

I've seen the request for transcribers and have always thought it would be a good thing to do. Would you recommend it? Is it difficult or does it get boring! All these things matter after all! Eleanor

I'm transcribing Q2 1881 Deaths which are mainly typed, but handwritten at the bottom of page 18 is Beaconsfield (Earl of) 76 St. Geo. H. Sq etc.. The Earl of Beaconsfield was Benjamin Disraeli, the former Prime Minister! Strange that it doesn't actually give his actual surname or first name... Anyone else transcribed anyone famous or notorious?
