At least I've got something to be going on with. I believe Marys father was a miner - living round that area you either worked in the pits or the Yards.

Hi kay I haven't got the 1891 census but the 1881 census shows a Bransby familiy living At Foundry Castle Eden Durham and another Bransby family living at 10 Nun st Westside Newcastle I will e -mail you the details Bren

Can anyone help me with the following - I know my Great Grandmother was born in Sunderland in 1888 and she lived there all her life but I cannot find her or any family on 1901 census returns. She was Mary Elizabeth Bransby born April 1888 in Sunderland. Unfortunately don't know any family names as I have just ordered her birth cert from ONS. Cheers Kay
