Hi, I'm trying to work out my Rooks family. I know for definate that Charles Rooks who was 22 when he married july 1884 was a definate relation, on his marriage cert it states his father as Lyth Rooks (sometimes transcribed as Syth). Charles was born in Pocklington, I think his father was born in Huggate Yorkshire. I am trying to work out who Lyths father was - I have 3 death certs (1)Charles Rooks died May 1895 Pocklington aged 84 Labourer (2)Priestman Rooks Huggate Dec 1898 aged 97 (3) Syth (Lyth) died feb 1899 Meltonby York aged 91. I know where all the 3 men are in 1881 and 1891, what I really need to know is where they were before then and who they were with. Any help will be really appreciated as I am now at a brickwall with all these different names, sibings, grandchildren etc but I don't know which line they should be going down. I am convinced I am related to all the 3 men, but can't work out the right one for my main line, surely with a fairly unusual surname then the others must be brothers etc. Sorry for being so confusing. Liz

Liz Try familyhistoryonline.org.uk I've had a look and there is quite a few Rooks on there. None with the forenames that you've listed, but it might give you a few more avenues to go down. Rachel
