How can I find out if my cousin born 1946 is dead or alive. He left Edinburgh to live with father in Stoke on Trent approx 1950's it is known he was in the forces and worked his way up the ladder very quickly for someone so young. I have tried for many years to track him down but no luck so am quessing he may be dead. How do you find out if no address all I have is full name Allan Edward Lockerbie Sargeant dob 17.11.1946 Place of birth Edinburgh parents Albert Sargeant and Mary Elizabeth Sargeant m.s. Lockerbie.

Is it a common name? If it is 1984 or later, it is easy to search on 1837. I have some credits, I dont mind looking

I just put in surname and date of birth, and nothing found between 1984 and 2001. Didn`t even cost me a credit to find that out, but at least you can discount those years.

I am so sorry Debra, I thought the surname was Lockerbie. I have done it again on Sargeant, and have found his death entry. Do you want me to post it here?

I have a similar problem with no real possible solution. I discovered two of my dad's cousins via the 1837 site, whom he has never met. Both could still be alive as one was born in 1926 and the other in 1931, however both are female, which makes them harder to find on things like present day electoral rolls when chances are that they probably married. I have thought about looking for their marriage details but again, their names are not unique in the slightest, so it would be a very hit and miss tactic to employ. Andy.
