If you type in 1901 census corrections inti a search engine there is a site with some corrections on (mainly from the general public) you can enter any mistakes you find there to help anyone else searching. |

Lyn. I had the same problem. The enumerator, recording the census details, had not crossed the "tt" s in my great grandfather's name for the whole household. It can clearly be seen to be written in that person's handwriting on the census form. I found them only by trying several permutations of the spelling of my surname. The original records were wrong and so they will never be changed even though they are incorrect. John |

I have been trying for ages without any luck to find my GGreat Grandmother on the 1901 site. It was more for info about the rest of her family as I have all her certificates except her death and I do have the date. I was frustrated by it so when I realised you could search with only a first name I put her name age and place of birth in. I found not only her but all the rest of her family with the surname mis transcribed Cowns instead of Corns.I know they don't change anything that was written wrong but when I looked at the original it was definitely a transcription mistake!! I filled in the form on the site but so far they haven't changed it or responded so if anyone else is looking watch for the spelling. Lyn |
