If anyone has access to 1891 London census I would be very grateful if they would look up the Askew family for me . John should be aged 60 with daughter Blanche 20 and Lydia 18. Their address in 1881 was 178 Drummond Street St Pancras and in 1901 they lived at 2 Pember Road Willesden so hopefully they will be at one or the other. Many Thanks

There is a Lydia age 18 who is a boarder, born St Pancras, living in Chelsea. Cant find a Blanche at all, and there are hundreds of Johns. Let me know if this is your Lydia and I will get you the address and household.

There is 1 John Askew aged 60, born Suffolk, Somersham, living in Ipswich and head of household.

Thanks for all replying so quickly. Yes I have found John age 70 in 1901, he is living with his son Augustus Askew at the second address. Lydia could be the boarder in Chelsea as I believe she later moved there.

Thanks Carol this looks like the right family as I know they had another son called Augustus, the ages don't quite seem right but I will have another think about that. Thanks very much Max these dates make more sense. Could you let me have the details on Lydia and Blanch as boarders in Chelsea please.

I forgot the young Rosina. My eyes are not what they used to be.

Have just spotted something very interesting. In 1901 Augustus has a new wife who is five years younger than him. Obviously traded her in for a younger model!!!

Thanks very much everyone for your help, I cant believe how quickly you got the information for me. Droop street rings a bell with me and has cropped up somewhere else in my tree so I am sure they are the right people. I'll let you all go to bed now. Thanks Deb
