I am trying to trace the parents of Joanna White on the 1851 Census. According to her birth certificate she was born at Bankfoot Netherton in the district of Rothbury 1854 to Robert White and Mary Young. On her wedding certificate the witnesses were William White and John White. Do not know if they were brothers and if so if they were older or younger. I have been unable to find them on the 1881 cenus . Any hepl would be greatly appreciated. Win Wallace

Win At the age of 27 Joanna is likely to be married, have you checked on FreeBMD to see if you can find her married name? Have you looked for the family on the 1891 census? Is it the Rothbury district in Northumberland? Gary

Winifred, I found a christening of "John Young White" 1860 at Whitley(Nr Hexham), parents Robert White & Mary (?). This sounds a possibility? Is this the same family in the 1881 census:- Robert WHITE Head M Male 50 Winter Burn, Northumberland, England General Laborer Mary WHITE Wife M Female 51 Alnwick, Northumberland, England John Y. WHITE Son U Male 20 Blubary, Northumberland, England Farm Servant Margaret I. WHITE Daur U Female 15 Coneygarth, Northumberland, England Servant General (Domestic) Mary A. WHITE Daur U Female 13 Bolton Wood Hall, Northumberland, England Scholar Living at Whittingham, Northumberland. (No idea where 'Blubary' is)
