It was my pleasure to be able to help you Siobhan. Another one of the advantages of Scotlands People certificates is being able to save them to disc and e-mail them. Just shout if you need more help. Can you let me know when you are coming up here to see if we can fit in the lunch at the same time? Regards Margaret

Margaret Thanks for your help on that certificate. I think I was just looking at it too long, trying to work out what the names were. Needed just a friendly hand to look at it for me and HEY it did the trick. Regards, Siobhan

Her name is Esther. Sorry - it's my spelling. Could be short for Hesther. Or could just be Esther. Regards Margaret

Siobhan I had an "Aunt" (friend of the family) named Easter so it is real. Mike

Helen

Helen Report 17 Oct 2003 12:33

Just had a quick look on 1881 Census and there are hundreds of ladies called Easter! Seems to be that most of them are from Lancs/Yorks but there are some all over the country. Probably just named for the time of year they were born. There are lots of men called Christmas too and even 4 poor souls called Whitsun!!!!

Dear siobhan, we have an "easter" as a forename in our tree so it may not be such an unusual name as we think kaz

Margaret could that be a Janet Douglas instead of a Jessie. What do you reckon???

CelticShiv

CelticShiv Report 17 Oct 2003 09:41

William's wife must be Jessie Douglas, Thats where Helen's daughter jessie would of got her name from DOH. so now it is just John Thomson's wife forename I need. Show's you when you have spent too long looking at a certificate you just need someone else to have a look and BINGO. I recommend having a second opinion to anyone

Only just seen them replys margaret. Is there a christian name "Easter" then never heard of that. The surname is definately thomson, because Helen and William the ones marrying had a child Jessie Douglas Thomson. So it is just the first names of the mothers I can't work out

Unknown Report 16 Oct 2003 23:33

The occupation is - Sawyer - a worker in timber pit or sawmill I am now pretty sure that the name is Thomson. I think its just that the t&h are squashed together. Regards Margaret

Unknown Report 16 Oct 2003 23:16

It's not a christian name as that is Easter. It has to be a surname. It should be Thomson but it doesn't look like it. All the other names I'm pretty sure about. You do know what M.S. is - Maiden Surname. Regards Margaret

CelticShiv Report 16 Oct 2003 23:09
