I've had four connections on my main line, all of which added little bits of information, but none on my mother's side of the family. I discovered a cousin of my father, whom everyone had lost contact with years ago. So, it's been well worth the fiver I paid for subscription. However, if the other thread is true and GC is really thinking of charging £5 a month, they can forget my subscription!!!

I have found five definite connections so far. I don't think that's bad out of 312 entries I've put in so far. One of the problems I have is the number of people who refuse to put approximate dates of birth and places of birth on the site. What is the point of contacting a blank? Stan

I was contacted by my mother's half-brother. We knew he and his family existed but they didn't know about us. Sadly my mum, an only child, died in her 40's; she would have been thrilled to know she had a half-brother and sister who wanted to know her.

Until a couple of months ago I had really given up hope of ever finidng ANYONE ALIVE that was into geno and was a rellie! I have either quite obscure names (Whitridge/Lacon/Uhlmann) or names that belong to rabbits (Watson/Smith/Foster). I am delighted that I have connected with a couple of the obscure ones a Uhlmann (Hiya Tony!!) and a Whitridge ('Lo Barb!) and the latter was just last night!! Who is over the moon, even if they are distant rellies, they appear to be the only ones I have got!! Sonja

So far I have found a second cousin and a third cousin (I think, that's what she is!) on genesconnected. I always thought that I didn't have much family, it's nice to think that there are some out there! I have also had so much help from the people from this site, I tell people that they have taught me all that I know about genealogy! Thank you to everyone who has helped me. Maggy, West Yorkshire

Yes Margaret, Jan is a nice and helpful lady. I am delighted to have found her and not forgetting the others. I definitely owe them loads because they provided the majority of the names on my tree. Fiona

I've made contact with 8 people who are related to me in one form or another. Three of these people are all grandchildren from the same family. I've also made contact via mailing list to 4 other people who all descend from my Cook ancestors, three of them are 3rd cousins (not sure how many times removed) and the other is a straight 4th cousin.

Fiona - I would say it's a triple bonus to have such an active member as one of your connections - you lucky thing! Regards Margaret

Hey Vanessa, You were first to respond and looked what happened at the end of the day! How exciting for you. Sue - I wish we did get commission as I have brought many new members to the site - even as far as America! Thanks you all so much for your resonses. It's great to hear all the success stories. Imagine how many there are out there that we don't hear about. I think that I would have some connections on here if people would repond to my e-mails (sorry - I know it has been mentioned so many times-promise not to mention it again). I couldn't have gone this far on my tree without the help and support from all you great members out there. Happy searching. Regards Margaret :o)

Hi, I have made 3 definite connections, one of which is Jan Simpson. I also have 1 who could be a possibility but not confirmed as yet. Between us we have almost 700 people on our combined trees. This is very addictive!!! Fiona

Having dolefully claimed no connections this morning after seven months of GC, have just found a new relative, checked the name summary and found that Brian Worboys had the same name, place and date! As I've seen Brian's name on the tips board quite a lot I'm hoping for a connection at last.

I have 4 definites and 1 possible connection. I agree about the great bunch of people on this site, so helpful and cheery. I have just got another convert to GC- a lady who helped me on Devon Family History Society site. I was singing the praises of GC to her and she will be joining us shortly! (Do we get commission?) LOL Sue

Nil, nobody, on-one, not any, not one, zilch, zero. I think my relatives are to busy producing the next generations than researching the past ones. Gary
