Hi, The IGI is great for setting up the basics of your ancestral tree, but every piece of information you find needs to be checked against original documentation, eg birth, marriage and death certificates, parish records etc. Some of the informants were I think a little over-diligent in finding bodies to bring "into the fold", or errors were made in transcription, so some of the information is not 100% reliable. Di.

IGI = International Geneological Index. Basically a register of events such as births, marriages and deaths (otherwise known as hatching, matching and despatching).

Just a quick comment. My unfortunate relative was buried 10 years before they died. sally

Am I missing the joke? It only says that he died after 1670: could have been 1720. I make him 64 when he got married, nothing unusual in that, my grandfather remarried at 71. And as for unreliable dates, the 1881 census has my great great grandmother giving birth at 65.

I know the LDS have baptisms after death, but not sure about marriages.

But this was all on one page. Couldn't help laughing. Jan.

We may laugh, but it is not difficult to get this on your tree. You find the birth. You enter it on your tree You know that the death is after a certain year. You enter this Then you find the marriage. Forget to change the death after date. Easy done.
