Hi Sarah; I checked the notes for William Springford. All it contains is the source for the record as below. FHL number; 1279377 Church of England; Parish Curch of Mellsham Wiltshire Record Office number; 2619/1 Records held at wiltshire County Record Office Trowbridge Wilts. Microfiche of original record on file. I ran the film number through the www(.)familysearch(.)org and it basicly said the same thing. The last time I had to check this way and followed through, the original record gave the name and date of death of the first wife so maybe this would be the best way to follow up on it. I hope this is helpful to you. Teresa

Hi Teresa, Thanks for your reply. It was William Springford, Wife Anne Perrett Marriage Date 16 Dec 1875. FHL Film 1279377. To be honest, sleeping on it and checking all my notes I think I'm barking up the wrong tree (or barking mad). I've found my William on 1881 Census with wife Mary, but there is also a William and Anne on the 1881 Census which makes me think this could be the Anne Perrett. I can't find my William after 1881, but have found a William and Anne on 1901. Hes the only other William of the same age and birthplace which is why I keep coming back to him. I know I'm getting desparate but I see the Census was taken over 2 nights so I keep wondering if he was at one house the first night and the other the 2nd but its all beginning to sound a bit like a conspiracy theory isn't it? Anyway, just to put my mind at rest I thought if it did give the previous Wifes name, it would end all doubts wouldn't it? Any help as always, is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!! Sarah

Hi Sarah; My isp has returned an email I sent you saying they could not deliver it, but would keep trying so I am sending through here. Give me the Springford name of the one who is listed as previously married and I will look at the VRI again to see if the first marriage is there. There is a section on the discs where you can access the place of record. Teresa
