there is a birth of an Emily Alice Allott registered on freeBMD could this be the daughter? Births Jun 1905 ALLOTT Emily Alice N.Bierley 9b 187 Shipley is a sub district of North Bierley You could order the cert and give them her fathers name as a checking point perhaps, then if its the wrong cert you will get a partial refund

Hi Angela, How about Apr-Jun 1905: Allott, Emily Alice, N. Bierley 9b 187. This is information from FreeBMD. North Bierley is a registration district created in 1892 south and east of Bradford. I hope this helps Stan

I've just had a thought though. I do know Arthur married Naomi (the second wife) on 10/10/1909 so Emily is older than that but probably not more than a few years older.

Hi again, I've no idea when Emily was born but I know she was crippled (the second wife again, wot a lovely woman she's turned out to be!!) Best guess on Arthur Allot's date of birth is 1880 but it could be 10 years either way.

On FreeBMD there are some Emily Allott births and Arthur Allott marriages. Perhaps you could get her birth certificate and that would give you his first wife's name and his occupation, then their marriage certificate and that would give you his father's name and occupation. Good luck.

Angela, There are 27 Arthur Allotts born in Yorkshire in the 1891 census, have you some idea of his birth date? That woukd narrow it down a bit. Lynda

Hi Angela, There are quite a few Arthur Allotts in Yorkshire on the 1891 census. Do you have an approximate age for your Arthur? Even if it's a "guestimate" it might narrow it down a bit. Emma.

I need help. I'm trying to get information about my great grandfather, Arthur Allott. All I know about him is that he was married twice and his first wife was blind and she died fairly young but they did have a child called Emily. He refused to tell anyone in his second wife's family where he came from. He always said "I have no family" which sounds like a family feud to me. He may have come from Shipley or Bailden in Yorkshire but that could be wrong. I have looked in the 1901 census and the 1881 census but no luck there as I don't know where he came from really or any of his siblings or parents names. I don't know his occupation. I don't have much to go on at all really. The only other thing I do know was that he attempted suicide and was arrested for it, but that was after he remarried (he second wife turned out to be a husband beater and a bit of a lush!!!)
