Hi Tracy, As far as I am aware there are no free sites for the 1891 or 1901. They are available on scotlandspeople(.)gov(.)uk. You can also download copies of BDM certificates. Its pay to view but well worth the money. You pay £6 for 30 credits. 1 credit for one search of 25 entries and 5 credits for each certificate. I have the 1881 census for Scotland and am happy to do look ups for you. Let me know what you are looking for and maybe I can help. Regards Margaret

Margaret's right. I've done a lot of Scottish research mostly through Scotland's People. It's an excellent site and well worth every penny spent. David

Thankyou Margaret and David for your replies. Margaret, as i'm doing this research for a friend i don't know a great deal about the family. They are called Gemmell. John Graham Gemmell born 1897 in the county of Lanark and his wife was Mary Jane Gemmell formerly Stevens born 1899 in the district of Govan. John parents were David Gemmell and Jean/Jane Gemmell formerly Graham. Mary Jane's parents were Robert Stevens and Annie Isabella Stevens formerly Wilson. That's about it i'm afraid. Any help appreciated. Tracey

Hi Tracey, I think you are off to a flying start as I guess that you have a marriage certificate with that info on it. You should be able to find most of the info on Scotlands People. It will be one of the best six pounds that you will spend. If you select correctly, you wil be able to print 5 certificates. Have you looked on the IGI records, although not complete, you might just get lucky. Let me know the ages etc when you have them and I will look up the 1881 Census for you. Please let me know if you need more help. Good Luck Regards Margaret
