Hi Sandra - thanks very much for your time and trouble. The Cooper in Tyer Street wasn't the one I expected, but most likely a relative, so at least some more info. Thanks for looking at Douro Street again and confirming Thomas Taylor's age as 40 ......such a common name it makes it very difficult. All very much appreciated......regards.....Doreen.

Hi Doreen Had another look at 8 Douro Street. Eliza's place of birth does look like Stratford. I can't read the name of the 5 year old son, all I can tell you is that it is a short name, possibly 5 letters. As regards Thomas, his age is very clearly 40, and I've had another look at his place of birth, it looks like Black-another tall letter, and then 3 or 4 small letters - definitely not Northfleet. Does this mean that it might be a different person altogether? Sorry I can't give you more, it's so frustrating isn't it? Good luck Sandra

Hi Doreen I have just seen your latest message and I will have another look at 8 Douro Street for you, don't worry about it. As regards Waller and Cooper in Tyers Street, Lambeth, firstly there is no Tyers Street listed in the Street Index in the whole 1861 Census. However, allowing for transcription errors etc I had a look anyway and Bingo found it. On some pages it looks like Tyers Street and on others it looks like Tyer Street. Just something to bear in mind in your future searches. Anyway, found nothing for Waller but did find Cooper family at 36 Tyer/s Street. Charles Cooper Head 63?* Carman? Bucks, Slough Sarah A Cooper Wife 62?* Surrey, Lambeth Thomas Cooper Son 23 Messenger " " Mary A Cooper Daur 17 " " Sarah A Birstall G Daur 9 Scholar " " *Doreen, I'm not sure about these ages, the enumerator when checking, I presume, has put a line through on each row, unfortunately over Charles and Sarah's ages, the 3 and 2 are correct, but the 6? wasn't very clear. Will get back to you Best wishes Sandra

Hi Sandra - back to the one at 8 Douro Street, Bow - I know you said the writing was somewhat illegible - is there any chance Thomas Taylor could be age 20 and born Northfleet? Sorry to be such a pain! Doreen.

immediately springing to mind for possiblilites for Blackurn are Blackheath and Blackwall, although I'm not sure how long Blackwall as an area has been there (well it's always been there but it may have been called something else). Zoe

Hi No problem Doreen, but can't promise when. I've printed off the page (they disappear so quickly) so I won't lose the information. Regards Sandra

Hi again Sandra - I do have another one for you if you aren't too fed up with it by now! I should have Waller and Cooper in Tyers Street, Lambeth in 1861 - sorry I don't know the number - only if you can find the time please. Doreen.

Hi Sandra - yes, thanks, it is of some help - the age of Thomas is one thing I needed. I doubt he came from Blackburn but perhaps I can work out something if the writing looks like Blackburn - I think it would be around the London area somewhere. It is also useful as I am not sure of all the children they had, and it is a help in that respect. Now I am wondering who the son aged 5 was!! Eliza usually gave her birthplace as Stratford. Thanks so much for your time and trouble.....regards....Doreen

Hi Doreen I managed to find the address you asked for. Unfortunately, the writing is very faint, so I'm afraid this is the best I can do. Thomas Taylor-Head-40-Labourer-Birthplace Blackburn? Eliza Taylor-Wife-25- Birthplace-Illegible. ???? Taylor-Son-5- Birthplace-??? Middx. James Taylor-Son-3 mths- Birthplace-??? Middx. Hope it is of some use, sorry about the blanks. Sandra
