I will admit that until I started my family research I did not comprehend what any wars meant. Having family members that died in WW1 and now an avid watcher of all the programs I think that we need to make sure interest is maintained and continued. Unfortunately last year it was very hard to try and find somewhere to buy a poppy! I dont know what we as like minded people might be able to do about it ,but as a passionate bloody minded sole would like some opinions

Hi, They are sold by the British Legion. If you contact your local branch you can volunteer to sell them. There are fewer and fewer people willing to sell them each year which is why you found it hard to find one last year. Hope this helps, Gwynne

I always make sure my kids wear a poppy and that they know why. Most supermarkets have sellers, stations and some libraries, council offices and of course churches. I think EVERYONE should buy one - but that's just me!! Maz. XX

Poppies are not just about WW1 & 2 but to help the victims of all the "little" wars since, including the ones that are going on as we speak. Everyone should buy a poppy and just spend two minutes thinking about the people who risk their lives to make us safe

Am I going mad or is this thread on here three times? Bit of a overkill. Gary

Elisabeth Report 26 Oct 2003 12:39

Gary, I hadn't realised this thread was on three times. Perhaps I have missed the others with all the problems logging on. We should all take time to think of all those who lost their lives and their loved ones left behind. They need help from organisations like the British Legion. A pound or two in their collection tins multiplied by all those kind people can help not only the war widows, and disabled, but the children and spouses of servicemen and women of current conflicts. I was lucky that my father survived service in both WW1 and WW2, but so many didn't, and still don't, come home! Elisabeth
