Hi Tracey Thankyou very much for that, its nice to know Stephen actually came from somewhere, i was beginning to wonder, lol. Did you find that record on your VRI? If so is there any chance of there being anything else on Stephen, or his father Richard? I was going to order a copy of the wedding certificate to find out something about Stephen but i guess it wouldnt tell me anything more than you have just found for me, in which case many thanks for saving me some pennies, i can order something else instead, lol. Anyway, i am going to write this lot up before i get sidetracked any further, which is so easy when you start reading these message boards! Regards Yvette

Yvette, Stephen Killick married Elizabeth Elliff on the 25 Dec 1878 at St John the Baptist, Croydon. He was 22 and she was 21. Stephens father was Richard Killick and Elizabeth's father was John Elliff. Can't find a birth entry for Stephen though. Tracey

Hi, I'd send for her cert to see who the husband is. If you don't want to pay to use the 1837 site the index is available on fiche or film at LDS centres, Record Offices and larger libraries. Gwynne

I am trying to track down the husband of an ancestor and have found a rather nasty brickwall. I have a Stephen Killick married to Elizabeth in the 1881 census and their two children living with her father. They are also on the 1901 with 8 children, (but no father in law) each one gives Stephens date of birth as 1857 and birthplace as Shirley, Croydon. However i can find no birth records for Stephen on either the LDS site or FreeBMD for 20 years either way. Where do i look now, i dont really want to use the 1837 site as i am nearly out of credit allowance for the month and need them elsewhere. Any suggestions? Yvette I have just used 1837 to try and find details of his marriage to Elizabeth, more mystery, i can find her entry under her maiden name, but nothing under his at all..........i am totally bemused now!
