found on many other census's, but why not on 1881?

I've found branch of my family tree (Charles bn 1854 in Downham, his wife Hephzibah, and their kids Mabel, Dorothy, Albert, Charles) on the `1901 census, and someone kindly found them on the 1891 census. but i cannot find them on the 1881 census. Does anyone know why this is, and if im searching wrongly, correct me please??!!!

this is weird, the family that Georgina found are similar to my 1901 family; Charles Enderby, 47, bn Downham, Norfolk, living in Nottingham, Tailor Hephzibah Enderby, 50, Cambridge Soham, Nottingham, her maiden name was FULLER! Albert (Bertie???) 16,Nottingham, Watch maker apprentice Mabel, 18, nottingham, pupil teacher, dorothy, 10 , nottingham, charles , 14, notts nttm, woollen drapers apprentice What do you make of this?!

I would say it is the same family original census could have been difficult to read when being transcribed

my grandma told me that hephzibah had a set of twins that died from scarlet fever. so maybe 'euanna' was 1/2 of a set if twins, where one had already died, and bertie also died, so the next son that they had was named after him. Is this a good enough explanation for the strange transcript?!

Hi, I think it's fairly likely that Euanna L.EUDBERY is actually Emma Louise ENDERBY. I found this birth entry on FreeBMD, which seems to match: Births Dec 1880 ENDERBY Emma Louise Nottingham Vol: 7b Page: 305 I tried to look for a death entry for her and Bertie but couldn't find any, however not all entries for 1881-1891 are on there still and the years 1886-1888 don't have many entries at all currently.

thanks Andy, Im pretty certain that both Emma and Bertie died before 1901, as my grandpa has only ever mentioned 3 siblings of his father (Albert, Dot, Mab, Charles), Nicola

I'd suggest you ask for a 1891 census lookup from someone on the board. George
