Removing links

A quick note, especially to Brian, that the inability to delete contacts does seem to be a W2000 issue, as I have now managed to solve my problem by using another pc running XP. HTH. Richard.

I take it from the lack of any more replies that noone actually knows how to do this. Think I might have found something they need to fix. Any more ideas? Cheers.

Debbie - tried removing their access. Still couldn't delete them. Brian. I'm on W2000 too. Wonder if that makes any difference?

I can't delete any of my contacts. I thought it was due to the version of Windows I am using, as I used to be able to do it at home on W98, but not here on W95. I've changed to W2000 at home and now can't delete from there either.

Hi Richard, Perhaps it won't let you delete the contact because you have access to their tree. Maybe you should try removing the access first, then try deleting the contact? Debbie

I have also now tried deletying the contact. It won't let me do that either. Very odd.

Andrea - I think you are right. Exactly what I am going to have to do. I have emailed the support team, but have had no reply. I also tried deleting the individual, but it wouldn't let me. Cheers.

I am only guessing here so don't take this as gospel but if you go to "your contacts", find the person who you have linked with and "delete contact". When you go to delete contact, it will ask if you are sure and it will remove all connections - say yes, that should then get rid of the link. Then go back and start again by contacting the person again and making the link to the right name. It may be a good idea to explain to the person what you are doing first in case they think you are being nasty!! Good luck.

Hi Richard, Absolutely no idea!!! Sounds like one for 'support' to me. Debbie

Can anyone help me with regard to links. I have linked to a name in my tree, but it is a name I have in my tree twice, and I have linked to the wrong one. How do you change a link once you have made it? It doesn't seem obvious to me. Thanks all in advance. Richard.
