I am having a hard time finding information on my great-great-great grandmother. Her name was Ann Essaba Wilkinson. She was born in England in either 1826 or 1827. I do not know her parents names, and I do not know where else to look. An IGI search pulled up nothing. Kathie

All I can think of is that you should order her marriage certificate, or if you don't know when she married, her death certificate.

Hi Kathryn! The problem with ordering her marriage or death record is she married and died in Canada. It's not easy getting information out of Ontario, Canada, when you don't have an exact date and place. Kathie

Ah. I see your problem. Would there be any emigration records?

Kathy, Have you tried to send an email to Diane from Tsawassen in Canada? She may know where to apply for such things. Good luck Jim.

Kathryn, I have no other information on Ann, other then her name and a possible place for her marriage. Jim, I have not e-mailed anyone about obtaining any records in Ontario, Canada. LOL I'm so lost! Kathie

Hi Kathie: I have a CD with Canadian information. It's not terribly helpful, but I'll give you what I can. (The first entry is formatted in the style of the CD. The other entries I've shortened, but use the same style -- does that make sense??) I will give you full sources (later), if you are interested. And finally, all records contain the same "Please Note" statement. Ann Wilkinson, Event: married, Year: 1840, Place: St. John, Province of Record Source: New Brunswick, County of Record Source; St. John, Source: Ruby M. Cusack..., Volume/Page: 23; Please note: The province and county are associated with the location of the record source and in some cases may not be the same as the place where the event occurred. Ann Wilkinson, Event: married, Yr: 1845, P of RS: New Brunswick, C of RS; St. John, Source: Ruby M. Cusack..., V/P: 163. Ann Wilkinson, Event: living, Yr: 1851, Place: Adelaide Township, P of RS: Ontario, C of RS; Middlesex, Source: Extracts from 1851 federal census. Ann Wilkinson, Event: married, Yr: 1860, Place: Ontario County, P of RS: Ontario, Source: Ontario County marriage register, V/P: Vol. 1, p. 116. A.E. Wilkinson, Event: living, Yr: 1883, Place: Mersea Township, P of RS: Ontario, C of RS; Essex, Source: Illustrated Historical Atlas, V/P: 29. A. Wilkinson in 1852 but that person was in the military. A. Wilkinson, living in 1883, 1901 and 1913. Since Ann had an unusual middle name, I've also included this one: Abijah Wilkinson, Event: living, Yr: 1896, Place: Bloomfield, P of RS: New Brunswick, C of RS; Carleton, Comments: Farmer, Source: McAlpine's New Brunswick..., V/P: 602. I know how frustrating searches in Ontario can be; I was born in Ontario as were my ancestors. Rather hard to research when one doesn't even live in the same country, eh? I agree that obtaining records is extremely difficult, but have found the search bearable because the people responding to my queries are very polite and at least try their best. If you have any other information you can give me, I would be delighted to do what I can. Keep in mind the time difference, please (we're 8 hours "behind" England).

Hi Lisa! Wow! That's quite a few Ann Wilkinsons that you found! But, I don't think any of those that you listed are the correct ones. I will e-mail you with the information that I have. Thanks so much! Kathie

Hi Judith! Yes I have tried the LDS site and it pulled up nothing. I don't know if it's because the year is so old. Kathie
